Over the weekend, I got to catch up with my friend Sherdon. It was an interesting conversation on getting there and his life in the UK. Sherdon is currently completing a PHD in wind energy at Birmingham City University. According to Sherdon, he found out about the program through the International Postgraduate Service by the Newton Fund.
He has been enjoying the experience so far. Studying abroad has led him to meet so many people from different cultural backgrounds. Moreover, the country itself is amazing. He mentioned that since it’s very close to Europe, going around during your free time can be easy and convenient.
Of course, it’s not always rainbows and sunshine. Literally. Sherdon dislikes the UK weather. It’s usually cold or wet even during the summer so it can get really depressing. Nonetheless, you can always jet to neighboring countries for that much needed sunshine!
If you’re keen on going for a similar path like him, Sherdon shared that it is important to know your interests. With that, you will be able to stand out and excel.
If you’re interested in becoming a mentor, you may head on over here to register!
Good luck and may all your dreams come true!
